Reenie or Mo. I admit I am a country music listener.
I have 2 people that I blame this affinity on, my Dad and my brother Mark (No, Kevin it has been going on for much longer than I have lived in Colorado). Dad introduced me to John Denver and Mark introduced me to Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, which I am sure, lead into several others that now litter my CD collection.
Besides John Denver, this is the day that country music won my heart.
One afternoon, when Mark was visiting from Emporia, we had to go somewhere I don’t know where but it really isn’t important because it is the moment that is still with me. As I was sitting in the front seat of that blue and white bronco, Mark turned to me and said, “I think you need to hear this song”. Every time I hear this song, I still remember seeing Mark turn to me with a smile, feeling the bump in the old driveway leading directly onto Quivira, and Tim McGraw singing “Don’t Take the Girl”. Y’all go ahead and listen to it and y’all understand.
Love You Mark,
P.S. Mark. “That Summer” by Garth, I am still calling you
