Team Cameron,
How are the New Year's resolutions coming for everyone? I hope you all were able to maintain. Looking back to January (I know this sounds cliché) but I don't know where it went. I gave a couple of house tours and had the pleasure of speaking with a local Blue Valley Middle School. The kids were well behaved and seemed to be genuinely interested. I was also pleased the teachers and administration appeared impressed. They promised to invite me back again next year and I hope will pass my name along to a few of the other middle schools.
February 2 is my little sister Maureen’s 40th birthday. Happy birthday to her. In addition, many across the nation were anxiously awaiting the outcome of a 20-pound rodent’s weather forecast. I guess he saw his shadow and predicted another six weeks of winter. Not that we have a lot to complain about here in Kansas City, we have had an extremely mild winter so far. I don't believe we've had more than an inch of snow all season but much like the oversized rat I am predicting we will see some more of the white stuff.
The whole Punxsutawney Phil forecast got me to thinking about life and what we would be doing differently if we could harness his powers. Imagine, one day a year having the ability to see the next six? I could think of a couple of days right off the bat that looking back I would have chosen to crawl back into my burrow for a few more days. I can also imagine I would be filthy rich from the stock market and a number of long shot bets on a few football games. But alas, I couldn’t do it you can’t do it and Phil the dirty rat can’t do it.
Sorry to those that didn’t make it to the annual Team Cameron Bowling Tournament. On Saturday, February 4th we hosted about 60 or so kids and adults at the Mission Bowl in Olathe for an afternoon of fun, prizes and laughs. If this is the first you are hearing of the “Day in the Gutter” with the Cannonbowlers you need to send me your email address to add to our database for future updates. Next year you will enjoy a day out of your burrow at the alley with the rest of us. For those that made it, thank you.
Sending me your email and we will also put you on the mailing list for info about this year’s golf tournament. Grab your calendars and be sure to highlight Friday September 21st for the eighth annual Team Cameron Golf Tournament. Big news, we are changing locations. This year the committee is planning to host the event at the Deer Creek golf course located near 133rd and Old Metcalf in Overland Park. They have a couple of reasons for the change in location; Deer Creek is a beautiful course with a great central location and a clubhouse large enough to entertain our post party. Although we will miss Prince of Peace and their facility the benefits of a single location are numerous.
Contact your team mates gather your foursome and be sure to "Save the Date” September 21 is only six months away. I hope you're all enjoying this mild weather here in the mid-west. I know we definitely need the moisture but these 40, 50 & 60° days are certainly nice.
Love all,
Mark
