Hello Team Cameron,
It's been a busy month since my last post, so I would like to apologize for the overall length of this one. I have a number of items to share with you.
I think the most exciting piece of news would be my new web site. I would like to thank Sabrina for all of her hard work and patience. I have much more to add but it will always be a work in progress. Take a few moments when you have time and please check back soon for any additions. www.teamcameron.org
After you've taken time to look at the web site be sure to sign up with Team Cameron on our facebook page. With this new viral technology it's easier to get out any updates about the Golf Classic and Wine Tasting.
The golf committee sent out the save the date cards. In a search for better weather the committee and I moved the tournament date from April to September. After looking at the weather over the last three Friday's it appears we made the right decision. Be sure to mark September 23 for the Wine Tasting and September 24 for the Golf Classic.
I celebrated my 40th birthday last month and wanted to thank everyone for the well wishes. I would also like to wish a happy birthday to all of those friends that turned 40 along with me. I've always heard people say that if they knew they were going to live this long they would have taken better care of their bodies. I will have to admit that it's a statement that I would agree.
I took an afternoon last week to speak to the seventh graders at Chisholm Trail again. This was my sixth time talking to the kids about diving awareness and making good life decisions. It's always interesting to see an audience that size of kids and their unguarded questions. I always looked forward to these speaking engagements, I think the kids definitely get a message and that makes it worth it.
Although we've had plenty of rain this month we have also had a number of sunny 60-70° days. With a little chemical, the lawn has exploded and my nephew has been busy trying to keep up with it. We've also spent a few afternoons working on the beds around the house trimming shrubs and planting flowers. The place is really looking good for this time of year. Thanks to the volunteers.
The Cannonballers have been playing each week with the exception of two Sundays that the weather was just too bad. In fact, I missed three games total already this year. We have a couple of makeup games scheduled and with only one regular-season game taking place next week our season is nearly completed. With a number of losses, I'm sorry to say that this season reflects poorly on our well seasoned player.
I will admit, although the Cannonballers have more losses than wins, they are having a great time and playing some serious kickball. Congratulations to the team on a winning season, in my book.
I will use this as a segue to a new feature I'm thinking of adding to my web site. You may notice one of the first pictures that pops up is of my good friends' sons jumping into the water with his legs curled up to his chest in true cannonball fashion while on vacation in Mexico.
I would like to invite each of you to try and take pictures this spring and summer and send them to me. By the end of the summer I hope to put some of these pictures on the web site. In fact, keep checking back to my web site for updates it will always be a “work in progress.”
I found a quote of the other day that applies to so many. "It is your friends who make your world." Can you imagine spending a day, a week or a month without your friends? Imagine how empty your life would be. Take a moment to phone, e-mail, text or twitter one of your friends or do it the old-fashioned way and get away from your computer and talk to them face-to-face.
Have a great week. Thanks for being a part of my world.
Mark
