Hello Team Cameron,
I'm writing today's post as a victim to technology and the life we have all become accustomed. It looks as though my last posting I was celebrating the fact that the winter weather was behind us and spring was on the way. As in so many aspects of my life I have had to find myself navigating blindly today without access to e-mails, Internet, television or phones.
The bills have been paid but Mother Nature decided to throw another nasty little snowstorm across the Midwest. In doing so she has laid plague on my AT&T service rendering it useless. I do, as luck would have it, have my cell phone and access to my computer hard drive.
So I've made a couple of phone calls and found myself laughing at my predicament. So with the weather diminishing and the snow piling (I'm guessing around 4 inches now) I am reminded of an ice storm of nearly 30 years ago.
Kansas City was blanketed with a couple of inches of ice. As the limbs over power lines and phone lines, and the lines themselves started falling all over the Midwest. I was stranded at my best friend's house with a box of Legos, a backpack of plastic Indians and matchbox cars.
We spent three days by candlelight sitting and sleeping in for front of the hearth on the rug playing while our boots and snow suits a defrosted from the hours of playing on the hill in front of the house. Those simple times seemed like it would be as close to the Little House in the Prairie as anyone could get.
I am finishing this post on Monday afternoon because with my limited technology I was unable to spend the afternoon at-home. It's March madness and there's no way I could spend the day without the television or the Internet. Kyle picked me up and we went to Austin's to watch the game.
I'm still laughing that with my cell phone, DVD, computer, refrigerator and electricity that I wasn't able to entertain myself for an afternoon. Needless to say the repairman called me to let me know when we were cleared for return.
Needless to say my diet that I have been working on has taken a couple of hits over the last week or so. With an afternoon of basketball at Austin's it is nearly impossible to sit without having a beer and of course a burger. In addition, I've had a beer or two on other occasions and a burger if time allowed.
The other even bigger news, the Team Cameron Golf Committee has scheduled the 2010 Golf Tournament to September of this year. Get your calendars out and a sharpie marker and an the wind tournament for September 23rd with the tournament following on the 24th.
Be sure to check back here for any updated information. You can also join us on Facebook under Team Cameron.
Feel free to come by house as the days get warmer you will see me sitting on the back porch soaking up the vitamin D. Have a great day and a better week.
Love, Mark
