Sweet Suite - East Coast 2009 Part Deaux
As you can see, my promise of timeliness regarding this post didn’t quite work out. It’s been very busy here on the East Coast, we are moving all the time! Who would have thought . . .
Mark wrapped up his visit at Kennedy Kreiger and is leaving with great work-out ideas. He is looking forward to implementing his new and improved routine. It has been a very rewarding visit for him.
We spent Friday and Saturday touring the sights of DC with our friend Ben. The National Zoo was voted best “new” stop, and the accessibility there is phenomenal. Our very favorite spots continue to be a local Fish Market and Fort McNair. The Fort is a beautiful and quiet spot along the bank of the Potomac River, and we always enjoy our picnics there.
Sunday night we returned to Baltimore in anticipation of the Stem Cell Summit Meeting. The front desk person, Richelle, became our new best friend when she comp’ed us an upgrade to rooms on the 15th floor overlooking the baseball stadium. We took in another baseball game – Red Sox over Orioles – from our balcony. Butter side up once again!
The Stem Cell Summit started yesterday morning. Mark has been moving non-stop networking with his old friends and making new contacts. It is equal parts empowering, reassuring, and humbling, to be part of this event. Advocates, Scientists, Clinicians and Researchers are all gathered here to work together to make medical advancements on behalf of all of us. Those of us with Parkinsons, Diabetes, Cancer, Macular Degeneration, Transverse Myelitis, and Spinal Cord Injuries are just a handful of examples of the people that will benefit from developments in the stem cell area. Time and funding . . .
There is certainly more that I could share with you, but in the interest of time and getting this post up, I will stop now. Mark will share more with you in his next post. In the meantime he is hosting all of you at the Wizards game on Saturday. Email Mark at Cameron-mark@sbcglobal.net, or call 913-387-3446 and speak to Allison Sheridan. Mark would love to spend time with you and your family at the game. He should be rested from his travels by then!
All the best to each of you.
Kelly
