Hello Team Cameron,
The Cannonballer's are going to take a couple of weeks off after their season in the loss yesterday. The next season starts up in September and I'm sure we will come out of the blocks at a dead sprint. The 9-3 loss did not come easy to a team that has become so accustomed to winning.
The opponent made a couple of big aggressive plays in the first two innings and took a sizable lead and continued to play serious kickball. Our team on the other hand started the game with a sense of humor and got more serious after falling behind.
We played hard for the entire hour which is regulation but most games we only have time to play five or six innings. Yesterday we played 10 innings. There were a number of innings that only one or two people even made on base. It was a very defensive game I hope we play them again soon because I think we could beat them the next time.
My nephew Mark stopped in for another visit. He lives in St. Louis and attending the local community college. After he and his buddy got here we decided to lay low and order a pizza but when mom called the offer for BLTs at her house it was something that we couldn't refuse.
He wanted to hang out with me before driving back to Colombia, Missouri for an evening at college with his buddies from high school. It reminded me of 20 years ago when I attended Community College but left town on the weekends to go to Lawrence and Emporia for weekend entertainment.
I am sure it's the same ritual that I enjoyed while in college. I attempted to pass on a warning and a message but when I heard it 20 years ago I shrugged it off. Don't take your college years for granted and enjoy them while you can. You will never be able to afford to buy that much fun when you get older. Take your time and enjoy.
I'm sure the parents out there don't want to hear that kind of advice but although an education is extremely important so is enjoying life. In fact, I'm not afraid to say that college was 5 1/2 years of my life that I will never regret.
Take care and enjoy youth.
Mark
