Hello Team Cameron,
It's been a fast-paced summer with yet another busy week for me. I started Monday night attending a meeting with the 2009 Golf Committee. It was a review of everything related to this year's tournament. Everyone was excited about how well everything ran and the positive feedback we received from so many participants.
I want to thank all of you who participated in making such a success; golfers, donors, sponsors, volunteers, guests, and of course the Committee. And now I'm sure I have forgotten a very important group of people but in the time it took me to write this post I will attempt to remind myself. If you didn't fall in any one of those categories I would like to thank you for your help and hope to see everyone next year.
I left on Wednesday afternoon with a vanload of sisters, destination, Table Rock Lake. Every two or three years our family, my mom's side, gathers together to catch up on old times and meet new members. My mom is one of 11 children and I have 54 cousins on that side of the family so you can imagine after three years there is a lot of catching up to do.
We spent three days at a resort just off of the lake reliving stories from vacations and antics of our youth. There were about 90 of us at the resort and between the pool, the lake, Silver Dollar City and the antique malls there was plenty to do. I look forward to seeing everyone again in two years. Thanks Joan for all the work you did to put this together.
Sunday night Maureen and I along with nephew Preston and his buddy, Emory, headed to the T-bone stadium to watch the Kansas City professional soccer team, the Wizards. They were playing a team from Mexico in a eight-team tournament. A friend of Maureen's from grade school work for the Wizards and got us great seats.
Although the home team lost we had a great time. I've never been to a professional soccer game but it's amazing how much faster it moves compared to my nephew Preston's last game. I may go again this weekend.
Wednesday is July 1 which marks another Prayer Power Surge. If you need to be reminded that means we would like everyone to take 10 minutes at 6 p.m. to pray for someone who needs it. For a little history, Team Cameron has been doing this on the first of the month since October of 2004.
If you're looking for someone to pray for I have a request. A couple of months ago I told you about Leslie, a wife and mother of two young boys who beat cancer in February but has been re-diagnosed and is currently in Houston fighting again with chemo. If you can't think of anyone to focus your 10 minutes of prayer on consider praying for her and her family.
Have a great week.
Mark
