Hello Team Cameron,
What a great week! I got in a bike ride on Tuesday night for 20 miles and a couple of workouts with Dr. Rick. In addition I got out of the house a number of times to see the sights.
Wednesday night Donnie and I went for another ride in the convertible. Again we use the ceiling with system to lift me out of my chair in the garage and then we drive the car under me. It's a failsafe method and one that I wish I could do to get into any car but unless the classic Burt Reynolds, Smokey and the Bandit T-top comes back into fashion I will have to stick with this standard convertible. Not that I would refer to Donnie's car as standard.
Thanks for the car ride I still owe you gas money.
To the best of my recollection it was about 12-13 years ago that my good buddy, Breck, and I took my nephew, namesake-Mark to the Royals game. It was one of the first times I was able to spend an evening without the help of his mother or another sister. It's always been easy with the nephews and nieces because any time they needed a diaper change, their face wiped, or clothes change I would send them to a sister or grandma.
Breck and I learned a lesson that night the easiest way to entertain a five-year-old through a baseball game will cost lots of money. I don't remember everything we bought but I'm sure a Coke, bag of peanuts, cotton candy and a frosty were on the menu.
Sorry for the flashback but it was my segue to tell you that my namesake, nephew-Mark at the age of 18 drove in from St. Louis to spend a couple of days with me and take in a game. The Royals hosted the St. Louis Cardinals which made for a little rivalry throughout the game.
Rivalry ended in the third inning when St. Louis took a 10-2 lead. Mark and I also invited Dad to join us for the Father's Day weekend game. I made it to another game on Saturday with Kyle to watch the Royals get beat again. This just wasn't the weekend for the boys in blue.
Mark, I had a great time. I want to be able to do this again. The Chiefs are looking good and tailgating in Kansas City is an experience everyone should have so we will definitely catch a game.
Sunday was Father's Day as you know and at mass the sermon was about the difference between a rock and a stone. He talked about the age difference between each and how a young rock has rough edges and how a stone overtime is smooth and weathered and more comfortable with themselves. He compared the young rock to a young man and the weathered rock to a man that has aged with time and experience.
He used a couple of expressions about stones and wisdom and comfort and what they've been through in their lives. Throughout the sermon I thought of my own dad and what he has done throughout my life in effort to smooth my rough edges through education and example as I tumble through life. Thanks Dad, Happy Father's Day
Have a great week, Mark
