If you are a regular reader you might have noticed I missed last week's post. It doesn’t happen often, but with a little writer's block and A LOT of procrastination I can actually do that. I appreciate the emails, I am doing fine.
Thank you to technology, I was actually able to dictate the majority of this update to my sister in the front passenger seat of the van while heading home from St. Louis this evening.
Congratulations to my nephew, God son, and namesake Mark for reaching the awesome milestone of High School Graduation. I am sure it seems cliché to say it doesn’t seem that long ago that you were just an infant.
In addition to spending time with my nephew, I have also reestablished some of the reason I write these post. You may remember a recent post from Julie Gray and how her children pray for me each night. I actually had the opportunity to get reacquainted with Conner, Riley and Matt. I want to thank you for the continued prayers and interest in my well being.
It was also good to see the rest of the St. Louis clan. As I looked around at the room I was humbled at the amount of support I had in this group; the boat captain and first mate, the golfers that have made the trip across the state, Luscious and her spaghetti sauce, golf sponsors, prayers and encouragement. Mark, I am sure you realize the amount of love that surrounded you this afternoon. You make a lot of people proud especially me.
After some chair modifications, I have great news. I am once again cycling at my house. After my weight gain and diet I had the seatbelt lengthened and chair widened. It is more comfortable, but I will continue my exercise routine and diet with the goal of additional weight loss.
The Cannonballers have decided to play the second summer session. It is notoriously a hot and uncomfortable time of year, but after being turned away due to a full roster they decided to play in any condition. I know they are missing play time as much as I miss watching them.
Over the last 2 weeks I have made it out to see 4 movies. I would say Dan Brown probably didn’t have Tom Hanks in mind when writing Angels & Demons. I give it 3 bags of popcorn.
I prefer a more realistic movie like the Hangover. If you haven’t seen the trailers it is 3 guys attempting to piece together a forgotten night in Las Vegas. I give this one 4 bags of popcorn.
If the Terminator Salvation is giving us a glimpse into the future, I would have to say be sure to pack snacks, because I wouldn’t give this movie a full bag of popcorn. You can wait for it to hit the shelves at Blockbuster. My guess would be it will only take a couple of weeks.
I don’t tell a lot of people that during my three years in Vail I was a Trekkie. We didn’t have cable, but one channel we did get played Star Trek 5 nights a week. My brother, sister-in-law and I watched countless episodes of Next Generation, so I have been on the edge of my seat anticipating this movie debute. Captain Kirk and crew receives 5 bags of popcorn with butter for their prequel to the Star Trek I watched growing up.
Sorry about missing last weeks post. Thanks for your continued readership. Have a great week.
Love,
Mark
