Team Cameron,
What an amazing week! I started off last Sunday my getting into my wheelchair with a new surprise to my normal routine. I leaned forward waiting for my sweatshirt and using my own strength I was able to lean backwards! Seems odd that after 4+ years, I’m still getting muscle return. It’s pretty exciting, and no one can explain why these great things continue to happen. The only explanation that makes sense, is the Power of Prayer. So, you can imagine that I’ve been getting quite an upper body work out all week, sharing with anyone and everyone that has a few minutes to watch.
I stopped off midweek at my doctor’s for a scheduled checkup. He told me to keep doing what I'm doing. The guy couldn't offer any suggestions for improvements other than go in on a diet to lose some of this belly that's crept up on me over the last six months.
I made a trip to the hospital on Friday night to visit the newest member of Team Cameron, Nash Nickell. My good buddy, Breck and Dilicia are the proud parents of Nash. Congratulations! For those of you taking bets, Nash was delivered Thursday morning at 3:45 am - a healthy 7.6 pounds and 19 inches.
If you're new to Team Cameron, I could give you a quick history; Breck and I met in 1991 in college at Emporia. We joined the same fraternity in college Sigma Pi. Since then, if you have glanced at any of the pictures you will see we share a lot of the same history. We’ve sailed and swam in the Caribbean, ridden mopeds in Mexico, landed tuna in Cabo, done some 4-wheeling, and skied Colorado. Breck was instrumental in building the addition on my home for my return from Craig.
A most humbling experience this week happened Friday afternoon. I was awarded the “Kind Citizen” honor. Drew, my god son, wrote an essay about me recently and I accepted this award on Friday. Thank you Drew. You’re a great kid and I’m proud to be in your life.
On a funny note… this morning my Mom stopped by with a new thermometer she purchased at the dollar store. I have to say, if you’re trying to get an accurate read, it’s best to spend more than a dollar on a thermometer. But I’m more curious to know how the manufacture tests an anal/oral thermometer before I use it? You can imagine the funny conversation involving that. Mom, Dad and I had a great laugh.
So, with that said… Wednesday starts Lent. It’s a great day to get an accurate read on your Lenten sacrifice. I’m saying ‘no’ to second helpings. However, I’d much rather say ‘yes’ to walking, as the weather is improving every day.
Have a Great Week!
Love, Mark
