Hey Mark! I just wanted to say (and I think I can vouch for the rest of the team when I do) that I had a great time hanging out with you and and hearing what you had to say, and also wanted to thank you for inviting us into your home and scheduling our couple days in Olathe. I'm not really one to say cheesy stuff, but your upbeat spirit and strength of character absolutely radiated from you and I found it incredibly inspiring... It made me turn a critical eye inward on myself and imagine how I would handle having an injury like yours -- because it really seems like it's something that can happen to anybody. Honestly, I don't know that I would handle things so well as you seem to have done almost four years after the accident. I think realizing this will hopefully allow me to make some changes in how I conduct and/or think about myself, or maybe try not to take those things for granted which I currently do. Anyway, that's basically the core of what I had wanted to say, so I won't turn this into a novel. But thanks again for all you've done and I hope you'll be a part of the Journey of Hope for years to come. I can only hope you were half as impressed by us as we were by you! Best wishes, Erik Farrar Cyclist, 2008 Journey of Hope eafarrar(at)gmail.com PS: I'm studying biochemistry and math at the University of Washington and stem cell research is a huge interest in mine. With any luck they'll make some progress in spinal cord therapy before I get to it, but if not...I'll see what I can do.
