Mark finished his day yesterday with occupational therapy. He was in a wheelchair for three hours, so was very tired after all of that activity. It was as quiet an evening as possible - he has a very busy room.
After a restful night's sleep, Mark is ready for another day of recovery. His room has been busy again, with his nurse, nurse tech, student nurse, respiratory therapist x3, and consultations with four different doctors. (That was all before 10:30 mt) In between we try to keep things really quiet so that he has the energy for the physical aspect of the day-that will be this afternoon.
One of the things we do between these staff visits is read the posts on this website. Mark has appreciated them.
Mark is a great guy (as we all know), and already a favorite with the staff. Remember Kenny from yesterday? He's back again today.
Kelly p.s. One of the doctors said that it is snowing in the mountains today, but we are getting drizzly rain. It's definitely a good day to be indoors ; )
7pm update:
This afternoon Mark had physical therapy for one hour, and then was fitted for a wheelchair. He was in wheelchairs for just over 3 hours. His new chair will need to have a few kinks worked out, but it is in good shape for the weekend.
The respiratory therapist made an adjustment to his trach, and Mark was able to speak for about two hours. He made a few calls, but found that it was very tiring.
His right lung problems are persistent, but not unexpected. Mark is scheduled for an x-ray on Monday to assess the status of that issue.
