Today will be interesting. Mark woke up a few minutes ago and requested a "hall pass". His nurse, Sonja, was more than a little surprised. (It's a little hard to be the visitor if you're not allowed to have visitors!) She recovered quickly, and told him to talk to the doctor about it later. We'll let you know how the doctor finesses that one. Mark asked his lung doctor for a set of exercises to improve the function of his diaphram. He started working out before she left the room. He is very anxious to get rid of the trach, and would love to take a really deep breath. It is cumbersome. Mark is watching the Chiefs game. We are getting a copy of the football pool printout, to post in his room. Sunday late p.m. - The doctor put the kabosh on the hall pass idea. It's good thing though, he really needed all of his strength to concentrate on breathing. He is insisting on "no sedation", and is trying very hard to master a new breathing technique. His frustration level is pretty high, please say an extra prayer that Mark exercises the patience required for his recovery.
